Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located? My office is located at 100 Independence Place Suite 201, Tyler, TX 75703 inside of the Chase Bank building off of Broadway.

Do you provide telehealth (video) sessions? Do you provide in-person sessions? I offer both in-person and telehealth appointments. I can provide video services throughout the state of Texas.

What are your fees? Do you accept insurance?  I understand therapy is an investment and I do everything I can to work with clients on fees so they are not a block to treatment. If you are seeking care and concerned about costs/payments please do not hesitate to reach out! If I am not the right fit for you, I will help you find someone who is. Session Fees: -120-140 for 50-Minute Sessions -180-210 for 90- Minute Sessions **Sliding scale options are available**If you are interested in a sliding scale spot, please place that in the Schedule a Free Consult form and we can discuss this further together.  Finding the right help is critical to recovery. I am avid supporter of trying to meet clients where they are and also provide sliding scale spots. This means that session rates are reduced based on the individuals/families needs. These spots are limited.  I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I do not accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits and may reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. In addition, I can provide a coded billing statement (or what is called a superbill) for you to send to your insurance company for them to directly reimburse you the cost. I will often provide this for clients and help many clients out of network.

What services do you offer? I offer individual counseling and family psychotherapy and psychoeducation sessions. I currently do not have any groups, however, I would love to be able to begin group work! If there is a group you are interested in, please fill out a Contact Form and list what type of group you are interested in. If there is a common need, I will create and advertise the group.

What age range do you work with? I work with clients as young as seven years old. Many of my clients are young teens/young adults. I also have experience working with clients in mid-late adulthood. My caseload will typically consistently have 2-5 clients from each age group.

How can I schedule an appointment? If you are an interested new client, please fill out the Schedule a Free Consult form (to set up a 15 minute free consult). If you are a minor, I ask that a trusted guardian be present for part of this consult.  If you have worked with me before, please contact me via email or phone number to schedule another session.

How do I know if you are the 'right' therapist for me? Picking a therapist can be challenging!  In reading through the information I have provided, I hope you have gained a little knowledge about me. Sometimes clients are able to tell if we are a good fit through the initial phone call. At other times, it may be more helpful to have a few sessions to learn more about each other. If at any point during sessions you begin to seek something different, we can work on building that together or finding a better fit provider for you. I am always seeking new knowledge to to revamp my treatment plans with the best scientific approaches to meet clients needs in the present. If there are any questions you have, please feel free to reach out via the Contact form, Schedule a Free Consult form , or via phone call or text message .

Do you just work with eating disorders? I work with a wide range of areas. I always share with clients that first and foremost I am a therapist. I have extensive training of a 60 hour accredited degree program, years of continuing education courses, and over 2000+ hours of face to face hours with clients from different walks of life. My specialty areas are struggles I work extensively with and topics that also may set me apart a little from other therapists. If there is anything you like from my page and do not have interest in working on food or body, that is okay! I could still be a great fit for you.

How long will therapy take? The duration of therapy can depend on many things, including some of the following: -A client's motivation for change -The main concern(s) or symptom(s) for beginning therapy sessions -The complexity of the diagnosis and if a higher level of care/different level of care is needed  -How often a client is attending sessions  -The involvement of loved ones in sessions In working with eating disorders and trauma, there can be a need for a more long-term recovery treatment. We  discuss client/family expectations for frequency and duration of sessions during the intake process and continue to monitor this throughout the therapeutic relationship. I value including client and loved ones (when appropriate) in the creation of treatment goals.

What does confidentiality mean for our sessions?  In working with a therapist, it is natural to be apprehensive and concerned about the privacy of our sessions.  Teens:  What you say in session will stay in session unless I think you are a harm to yourself or someone else or their is someone else in harm's way. If I am working with your family or loved ones, we will discuss what my concerns are and work on voicing them together (when/if appropriate). I value clients feeling safe and protected. If you or your family have questions about confidentiality, we can discuss them during sessions.  Adults:  As an adult, there are different limitations on what I am able to discuss from session(s) with other individuals. I will work with adult clients in utilizing those around them to build support outside of session(s). If there is something of concern, we will work on how to ensure your safety between sessions together.

I am an not sure if I have an eating disorder, but I want support around my eating and body image. Is this something you do? Absolutely! This a field I am very passionate about. Whether you have be diagnosed with an eating disorder or not does not affect my ability to work with you.  Whether you are a teen, an adult, a new or established parent, in a new or established relationship, or you have healed or are healing trauma, your relationship with food and body deserves space. I am here to walk alongside you!

I am a parent/guardian of a teen and I suspect they have an eating disorder. What do I do next?  Beginning eating disorder recovery can feel daunting. I am here to help! The first step is scheduling a consult. During this call, we will discuss presenting concerns. If I am an appropriate fit, we will schedule an intake session. During this, I will spend some time with loved ones and with the client.  Some next steps could possibly include the following: - A medical evaluation to ensure your teen is at an appropriate level of care -Adding a doctor/pediatrician to the treatment team -Adding a dietitian to the treatment team -Scheduling consistent appointments  -Meeting for parent/guardian psychoeducation sessions to discuss all things eating disorder related There are many things to consider in working with eating disorders. Please do not do this alone! Your teen and you both deserve to have support.
